Virtual Private Networks have quickly become a "must have" addition to every company, large or small. We no longer work from one desk in a dark corner of the office between the hours of 9.00am to 5.30pm as VPN technology has set us free!

With the latest firewalls in place and expert configuration you can now securely connect to almost any application within your office at any time of day or night and from anywhere in the world.

Our unique understanding of VPN technology and Terminal Services configuration has revolutionised the way in which our clients work. By being able to access their full system whilst on the road, at home or travelling the world they can ensure that key staff members are always able to communicate or interact with their head office.

VPN Application

There are many different ways in which to use a VPN and the list of practical uses is constantly growing. We have listed below some of the more popular applications for this technology.

Branch Office / Home Worker:

Securely connect to your office environment and utilise the following applications.

Permanent connectivity with easy local printing
Account systems (Sage, Opera, etc)
Database applications
Email
Company documents
Centralised storage
Local AV system and web filtering
IP Telephone (with compatible system)

Mobile User:

All the above system but connection on demand whilst on the road in conjunction with a 3G PC card or third party Internet connection.

VPNs in action

Below is a case study for a recent installation that we hope will highlight the benefits that this company saw once their VPN system was installed.

Situation

The company in question have a head office, a smaller branch office with one single PC and a user that needs to work from home. They came to us with some ideas for what they wanted to achieve.

Solution

We installed ADSL connections at each of the three locations, and configured and installed firewalls for VPN capability. The home user is able to access the corporate network from home, as well as use applications installed on the office PCs.

The company has security cameras installed in the office and these can also be monitored from the home users' remote location. This has proven to be of great benefit to them on several occasions where the security alarms have been triggered and the home user was able to view the inside and outside of the office from home within seconds.

Documents that are confidential can be printed out directly to the remote user's printer at home, or alternatively they can be printed to the other office. This helps to centralise the whole operation.
